Primary Election Petition Information

Candidates must meet all requirements as set forth in the United States Constitution, New Jersey Constitution and NJSA 19:23-8 shown here.

The Number of Duly Qualified Signatures required for the Primary Election petitions are Petition Signatures Needed for Primary Election.

For a write-in (personal choice) candidate to be included on the General Election ballot he must receive at least an equal amount of votes as signatures required on a Primary Election petition.  (See NJSA 19:14-2.1)

State Committeeman or Committeewoman 
State Committeepersons run only in the Gubernatorial  Primary.

County Clerk, Surrogate, Sheriff and Freeholder

County Committee Member
County Committee is a statutory office with two positions in every political district for each political party.  Both Democratic and Republican Committee members serve four year terms coinciding with the Presidential Primary Election.
Petition:  Nomination by Petition for Member of County Committee
File:  Municipal Clerk’s office by 4:00 p.m. 64 days prior to the election.

Municipal Offices in Dennis Twp., Lower Twp., Middle Twp., North Wildwood, Stone Harbor, Upper Township and Woodbine.
